ABOUT SCOTT WARREN
Scott found his way into watersports while living in Plymouth at University. After a couple of years learning to surf, Scott’s sports background soon meant he was looking for other avenues to get out on the water. SUP was the his preference, and before long, his first experience teaching others came along as he dragged his surfing buddies out for a paddle with a local club in 2009.
Scott soon found himself back in the Midlands, co-founding Central SUP and beginning his instructor pathway. As a keen racer and with a background in retail, the temptation to work for leading brands Red Paddle Co and Starboard drew Scott back to Devon. From 2013, Scott led the SUP operation for Tushingham Sales, working with shops, ambassadors and team riders to strengthen the brand’s position in the market.
During his time at Tushingham, Scott built up his industry knowledge and was involved throughout the sector, building relationships with partners and industry professionals.
Following a move to Bray Lake Watersports in 2017, Scott again picked up his coaching, developing a new club structure and progressive pathways for the Bray Lake members. With a young family on the horizon, a switch to the corporate world was needed. Scott kept up his coaching and events work in the background by founding Haywood Sports in 2018. Since then, he has continued coaching budding racers, hosted numerous open water paddling and surfing clinics, and developed coaching programmes for clients.
Scott is currently an active racer, events and race director and coach.
