- SLSGB Coasteering Safety and Rescue - £200
- Duration – 2 Days
History
This qualification is designed to create a level of competency in lifesaving and rescue for those wishing to work as coasteering guides. We’ve been delivering coasteering as an activity for a number of years. We have continuously researched and worked towards making the industry in Cornwall and around the United Kingdom safer for all. Harlyn Bay is the perfect training ground for potential and current guides with numerous interesting features that we use in challenging scenarios during the course.
What will I do on the course?
Using our experience as lifeguards, surf instructors, lifeboat crew and highly experienced coasteering guides, we’re now able to deliver SLSGB’s Coasteering Safety and Rescue award. During your time with us we will develop your understanding of rescue techniques, patient care, incident management, risk assessing and communication with the emergency services.
This course requires you to demonstrate a pool swim of 400m within 9 minutes 30 seconds along with a 200m sea swim in full Coasteering PPE.
What’s the time frame and what other important things do I need to know?
This award is delivered over two days. It’s strongly recommended that before attending this course you also attend either the SLSGB Surf Lifeguard or the SLSGB Surf Coach Safety and Rescue award.
Prior to attending this course you must have completed an 18-hour First Aid course such as First Aid at Work which we can deliver or the SLSGB courses listed above. At the start of the course you will be expected to demonstrate full competency in CPR and basic life support. For the full course syllabus and more information please see the links below.
