The Surf Coach Safety and Rescue award is lifesaving qualification specific for surf instructors to create a high standard of lifesaving within the surf school industry.
This course is suitable for:
Why is this such an important and popular course?
We believe it is crucial that those working within the industry are competent in First Aid, basic life support and rescue techniques. Instructors can work to a 1:10 ratio, this can be out of lifeguard hours/season, in remote locations and with no immediate assistance. This is a hugely popular award and considered to be the industry standard amongst instructors nationwide. You will be trained by highly motivated and experienced instructors with real life operational experience of working in the watersports industry.
There is no timed pool swim but you will be expected to display a level of competency and fitness in the water. Please see the course details below for further information regarding pre-requisites of fitness tests and full syllabus.
This award can be used as the required lifesaving qualification for those wishing to work as surf instructors or to supervise groups at the beach. It is NOT a rescue award for those wishing to work as SUP instructors you will need to hold our SUP Safety and Rescue qualification. To work as a lifeguard you must obtain the full SLSGB Surf Lifeguard award. Do you have a surf instructor qualification? WSA’s Combined Course includes the Foundation Surf Instructor qualification which is designed to compliment this award.
