ABOUT KATIE HOGARTH

Katie Hogarth Water Skills Academy (WSA) Trainer

Katy has been coaching paddlesports and snow sports across the UK and Europe for 20 years. She captained her school canoe club before founding a university club and getting completely hooked on white water. During her time at university, she coached paddlesports for the military in Wales, Austria and Gibraltar and competed for them in WW and Surf disciplines. She also holds education qualifications and has worked extensively at centres; running youth clubs, summer multi-sport programmes, sessions for excluded pupils and water-based counselling sessions.

She is a qualified to operate commercially on the Tidal Thames by the Port of London Authority and has worked as a safety consultant and support craft for many source-to-sea and large-scale charity events.

A love for the Thames and the waterways of London led to the creation of her company, Moo Canoes in 2012. Moo Canoes now operates three bases in London, offering SUP, kayak and canoe hire as well as guided tours and coaching. Katy is still at the helm of Moo Canoes, heading up a team of passionate coaches.

As well as ensuring London's waterways are accessible to the masses, Katy continues to coach in advanced environments. She is also a fairly active eco-warrior, sitting on the board of local waterways charities, facilitating regular litter-picking events and building new habitats.
